A sweet collection of Christmas books

I really appreciate books like this, especially this time of year. Don't get me wrong....we love our share of Polar Express and Elf around the house, but these resources from ZonderKidz is such a blessing.  Theres so much grabbing for our attention during the holidays so having these sweet books around our house- in the play room and on our coffee table- has made it easy to protect moments through out the day as we head into Christmas.

I loved Goodnight Manger. Maybe because I am a new mom to baby #2 so I am very much in the newborn phase at the moment, but Ive always pictured the manger scene as quiet and peaceful. Thats the picture thats been painted in my mind all these years. But this book.....it paints a different picture and one that seems more accurate to me. Joseph and Mary are trying to get [and keep] baby Jesus asleep! Just imagine the chaos with animals involved....and a bed of hay thats NOT filled with down feathers! This just made me smile....and made this famous story in the Bible more relatable to me. I loved this line of the book....

Three kings knock at stable door. With royal pomp and gifts galore!

Christmas doesn't end around our house the day after Christmas.....as Ezra continues to be in awe and wonder of his new toys.....we'll be diving into activity books and continue to read stories about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas.

The Beginner's Bible

Stella is now four and a half and her only Bible to date has been the Beginner's Bible collection ... & I believe it's truly the BEST.

The Beginner’s Bible is a storybook Bible that comes in the KJV and NIRV with really pretty 3-D art inside, ideal for a young child's first experience with a new Bible! It's perfect for those who are being read to and those who are starting to read on their own. Stella still enjoys being read to, which I love because we both can read & learn together.

What I think is really great about the Beginner's Bible series is that they're also available as board books for toddlers and preschoolers, and fun resources like coloring and activity books! Both of which we have & both of which she still uses and turns too. The coloring & activity books are HUGE!

So, it gets better. The Beginner's Bible has a website with games and parent resources that are so wonderful but my FAVORITE part is they now have an App for your iPhone that comes in so handy for us!  The kids are always reaching for the phone, but we limit what they can do. I recently added this app to my iPhone & Stella enjoys playing around in there. I love that she has access to spiritual and educational activities to keep her busy while we’re out and about, traveling, or even looking for fun tech based resources to use together.

We'd love to gift you & a friend a copy of the NEW Beginner's Bible. Hop over on Instagram to read how to enter! Super easy. This Bible is truly the perfect gift for your little one[s] so that they can have a tremendous resource now & always!

Time For Bed, Sleepyhead

This month, we have the honor and privilege to review another great book by Zondervan. Time For Bed, Sleepyhead is written by New York Times bestselling author and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen. This cozy bedtime book uses visualization techniques in the storytelling to encourage a child to stretch and even exhaust their imaginations to help them drift off into peaceful sleep.

I have to be honest with you and start out by saying that my amazing husband does the nightly bedtime routine with our son, Ezra. So, I figured I should let the main bedtime storyteller, review this book! Rather than ask him a bunch of questions....and relay it all to you, it is my pleasure to introduce you to REED.....

Hello blog world! Yes, I love that Ezra and I get to share stories and prayers before bed every night.  I am really trying to soak in every moment and enjoy this time every evening.  Ezra has always been a night owl, like his Mom [ha!], so we have been working on getting him to bed earlier now that he is getting up for pre-k three days a week.

I have tried everything.....three books, four books, telling made-up stories, the list goes on.  He would still be awake.....Until....I started reading "Time For Bed, Sleepyhead.".  He now requests this every night and it is the only book I need to read.  Ezra always wants to be "Aslan" the white german shepherd puppy in the story, and he assigns me to be the "Daddy" bear.  The story is great about repeating certain words, which helps to set the mood to safe, warm, and luckily for me, sleepy.

At the end of the story, Ezra will turn to me and say, "good night, Dad" then rolls over and closes his eyes.  I usually stay a few more minutes and say more prayers over him, thanking God for the little arrow he is, knowing all the good that's in-store for him when tomorrow comes.

I would definitely recommend this book and you can find it here.
Thank you Zondervan for publishing such great children books. We've enjoyed building a library of great books for our son.
